I know it is a bit poncy, but I am loving edible flowers at the moment, I don’t buy into the taste element but they look great. It’s a real craze at the moment – you can even by packs of them in some supermarkets in the salad section. I grow violas, which are pretty and peppery and borage, which is sometimes treated as a weed but has beautiful blue star-shaped flowers that taste of cucumber.

For the perfect cool drink add your Pimms and lemonade to a jug, add lots of ice, fresh mint, chopped strawberries and float borage flowers in the top. Or put borage flowers into ice cube trays, fill with water and freeze. When you pop them out you have cute little flower ice cubes – how can you resist?!
